Innovation Index 2021

Recently, Bloomberg has published the Innovation Index 2021, which measures the competitiveness of the Countries through several indicators. South Korea has reconquered the first place, after 1-year-gap in which this position was given to Germany, interrupting its 6 years of leadership. A curiosity: the second place is occupied by Singapore, that distinguishes itself for the funds allocated for the digital innovation and global competitiveness of its university system, conferring the highest score for the tertiary education to the country. The United States left the top 10, but the new President Joe Biden has already planned a UDS 300 billion investment in research and development for innovative technologies with the project “Innovate in America”. The 2021 ranking is the signal of a world in which the fight against Covid-19 has brought innovation into the foreground, especially in terms of digital infrastructure to be able to work through the pandemic and of the development of effective vaccines in order to come out from the emergency.
