M+ Museum & West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD)

The inauguration of the M+ Museum, the first permanent space dedicated to the visual culture of all forms of contemporary art of the 20th and 21st centuries, will be announced by the end of 2021, with a particular focus on Asian artists. It is an ambitious, pioneering and unique work of its kind, designed by the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & De Meuron, whose fame is mainly due to the conversion of the Bankside power station into the Tate Modern in London. The monumental form identifiable as an "inverted T" will have a total area of ​​65,000 sqm, which is almost double the size of the Tate. M+ will be the hub of the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) in the heart of Hong Kong, perceived to become one of the most important artistic hubs at an international level, expression of a massive strategic government project to support the long-term development of the arts and of culture.
