Beijing: new car? You must win the lottery first!

This is one of the measures introduced in Beijing by the Chinese Government aimed at limiting pollution. In order to buy a new car, the inhabitants of the city, in fact, must take part in a lottery and hope to win. This is not easy at all since Beijing has a population of more than 20 million people and the license plates made available in 2018 were 100 thousand. This means that, in the extractions that take place every two months, a number plate is granted for every 2,000 people who have requested it. In addition to this, there exists a further action issued by the Chinese government that refrains non electric cars from being used once a week.
